Be sure to catch Portland’s First Friday Art Walks. The streets are crowded with people heading from one art opening to the next (think free food).
Speaking of free, the Portland Museum of Art has free admission every Friday evening, year round. Send a postcard from the PMA home. Let them know you’re soaking up some culture!
Not to be left out of Maine’s art scene, enough artists have opened studios in nearby Westbrook for them to begin their own Fourth Friday Art Walk.
Go early and stroll the recently restored River Walk before hitting the studios in the Dana Warp Mill and along Main Street.
