Learning Spaces
Not A Quiet Space
Due to the nature of group work and tutoring, the Learning Commons is not a quiet space. The second floor in Gorham and the upper four floors in Portland are more traditional library atmospheres. The Great Reading Room on the seventh floor in Portland is an ideal quiet space. Lewiston follows a quieter model as well.
Group Study Rooms
Group study rooms and small instructional spaces are available on all campuses and may be reserved using OpenRoom.
Seating
The Learning Commons features a wide variety of furniture from the old school wooden study carrels to upholstered chairs and couches. Some of the chairs and tables are designed to be moved about and students are encouraged to do so. Make yourself at home.
Computers and Printing
There are computer stations throughout the Learning Commons with access to printers including wireless printing. Download the wireless application at USM Laptop Printing.
Always ask a staff member should you have any questions.
