Learning Foundations
Department of The Learning Foundations is a unit within the Division of Academic Affairs and as such is responsible for providing a variety of academic support to all students.
One primary responsibility of the department is to coordinate developmental and preparatory courses in math (MAT 009 and 101-B), and a library skills course, FRS 197, a learning strategy course (FRS180), see also Courses.
A large number of students access tutorial assistance by trained peer tutors, graduate assistants, or faculty, at two campus learning centers. The Learning Center, Portland, and Bailey Hall Math Center, Gorham, are designed to complement and enhance student classroom experiences through a friendly and effective tutoring program.
Additionally, the department offers study skill consultations and support handouts and materials. See also Study Skills.
