Roxie Black Ph.D., OTR/L; FAOTA; Associate Professor; MOT Program Director

Educational and Experiential Background  Roxie has been the director of the MOT program since October 1997. She received her undergraduate education in occupational therapy from Boston University, a Master's degree in adult education from the University of Southern Maine in 1989. She recently completed her doctorate in Educational Studies from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. Roxie has been an OT educator since 1983. Her clinical experience includes 25 years of practice in pediatrics, working with children from infancy to young adulthood.

Professional and Personal Interests The focus of Roxie's scholarship has been on transformational curricula for health professions education with an examination of feminist, multicultural, and critical pedagogical theories. She has presented at numerous national, regional and local conferences. Roxie has published on issues of diversity and is co-author of "Cultural Competency for Health Professionals" with Shirley Wells, MPH, OTR/L, (AOTA, 2000).  She is currently anticipating the upcoming second edition release.  Roxie is the current President of the Maine Occupational Therapy Association.

Personally, Roxie has two adult children, two very active and crazy felines. She loves to garden, read, travel, go to the movies and theater, spend time with friends and family, and loll on the beach and sunbathe (although there is never enough time for that in Maine). She is thrilled to be first time Nana to grandchildren Caleb and Emma.  email Roxie


Lisa Clark, MS,  OTR/L; Clinical Faculty

Educational and Experiential Background Lisa Clark's areas of clinical specialty have been geriatrics, rehabilitation, and management. Her Contributions to the Master's in Occupational Therapy Program at Lewiston-Auburn College include curriculum development and implementation, as well as admissions process revision. She teaches in the areas of management and intervention with consumers with physical disabilities. She spent one year as co-facilitator of the Maine Occupational Therapy Educator's Alliance. She is actively involved with the Maine Occupational Therapy Association in a number of capacities, and served as president for four years. Lisa's research interests have focused on the effects of reimbursement on occupational therapy practice. She has both a bachelor's degree and an advanced master's degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of New Hampshire. Lisa is dedicated to assisting the MOT program by actively supporting the Maine Community of OT Practitioners.

Professional and Personal Interests Lisa's professional interests revolve around psychosocial aspects of physical disabilities and the health care and reimbursement systems. Lisa resides in the Brunswick area with her spouse and is the delighted mother of an 8 -year old son.  Lisa also enjoys being mama to two llamas. Kristin Winston, M.Ed., OTR/L; Instructor and Fieldwork Coordinator

 

 Educational and Experiential Background  Kris Winston grew up in New Hampshire where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of New Hampshire. Kris went on to receive her Master degree in Early Childhood Special Education at the University of Vermont and is now completing a doctoral program at Nova Southeastern University. She also earned a Certificate in neuro-developmental treatment. Kris's primary focus has been in Pediatrics, however she also has experience in other disciplines including acute care and long term care, working for various institutions in Vermont, Florida and Maine. She has also presented on various topics at conferences in Florida and Maine.

 

Professional and Personal Interests Kris loves teaching and has enjoyed an adjunct faculty position with Lewiston Auburn College for over four years. She is a current member of the Master of Occupational Therapy Advisory Board. Her professional interests lie in the areas of Early Intervention; Feeding & Oral Motor skills. In her free time, Kris enjoys quilting, crafts, traveling, skiing and gardening. email Kris
