Summer Session II Courses at USM's L-A
College

Registration is open for a number of Summer Session courses
that begin next month at the University of Southern Maine's
Lewiston-Auburn College campus. Most classes begin the week
of July 5, meet twice a week, and run for 7 weeks. A few other
courses are offered on a one or three-week schedule.
In addition to a number of general academic courses including
College Writing, Literature, Critical Thinking, Psychology,
Anthropoligy, and Public Speaking, an introductory computer
course and a course in Microsoft Excel are also offered.
A course in organizational consulting will be offered in
a special one-week session, 8:00 a.m. * 4:00 p.m., July 26-30.
This course will cover topics such as consulting strategies,
self-assessment, and ethical considerations. Students will
also have the opportunity to apply consulting theories and
concepts through working with actual clients.
A number of graduate courses for teachers are offered through
USM's College of Education and Human Development and the Professional
Development Center. These include the following: Children's
Literature, Adolescent Literature, Linguistics & Cultural
Diversity, ESL: Language Testing & Assessment, Problems
in Literacy Assessment, Poetry in the Classroom, Coordinating
the Career Prep Curriculum, Conflict Resolution & Mediation
in Schools, Differentiation of Instruction, Methods of Teaching
Math/Special Needs, and Technology in Special Education.
