University of Southern Maine President Richard Pattenaude
has announced the promotion of two faculty members at the
Lewiston-Auburn campus: Dr. Marv Druker to the rank of professor
and Dr. Ike Levine to the rank of associate professor.
Professor
of Public Affairs Druker earned his doctorate in political
science at the University of Wisconsin. He teaches classes
on
public administration, research and statistics, and organizational
change and development. His recent presentations and
publications have been on connecting the classroom to
the community through field experiences, using the internet
in classes, and developing innovative structures for
local governments. He has served as President of the
Maine
Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration.
He currently oversees the masters in leadership studies
program at USM/L-A.
Levine,
an associate professor of natural and applied sciences,
completed his doctoral studies in botanical sciences
at the University of Hawaii. He offers courses in scientific
topics, biological principles, applied botany, environmental
sciences, ecology, coastal ecology and marine biology.
His area of expertise is algal physiological ecology
and marine agronomy. His research focus is on the bioremediation
potential of algae, cultivation ecology of Porphyra,
and cultivation enhancement of commercial algae. He currently
serves on the Poland School Committee.
In making these announcements, President
Pattenaude noted "both promotions are richly deserved
and recognize the excellent balance of teaching, scholarship,
and service that both Marv and Ike have demonstrated."
