Do you need a passport or need to renew your passport??
This is your chance to apply for one conveniently on the
USM's Lewiston campus. Passports are the best I.D. to have
when you travel, when you are applying for jobs, etc.
LAC's LEADER group is sponsoring Passport Day at USM/L-A.
Please pass this information on to those who may be interested.
The event is open to anyone in need of a passport or passport
renewal.
The United States Postal Service will have applications
and will take your photo on the following date:
Wednesday, March 2 from 10am - 1pm in the South Lobby, University
of Southern Maine-Lewiston, 51 Westminster St., Lewiston
If you are planning on overseas study or visiting another
country, you should take this opportunity to apply for your
passport or to renew yours.
What you will need to bring: a certified copy of your birth
certificate or previous U.S. passport for submission and
photo identification (any one of the following: driver's
license, previous U.S. passport, certificate of naturalization,
certificate of citizenship, government employee I.D., aircraft
pilot's license issued by the FAA, or military I.D.) Also,
acceptable with a second form of I.D. are: government issued
I.D., work or industrial I.D., School I.D., or expired driver's
license.
Fees:
$30 payable to USPS for passport execution fee
$55 payable to Department of State for passport fee
$12 payable to USPS for passport photo fee
Checks or cash only. Passports are good for 10 years.
Fees and procedures for those under age 18:
$30 payable to USPS
$40 to Dept. of State
$12 payable to USPS for passport photo fee
Mother and father must be present and must be listed on the
birth certificate. If one is deceased, certified copy of
death certificate is required. If one is in Iraq, need notarized
statement. Passport for those under age 18 is good for 5
years.
It takes about 6 weeks for your passport to be ready for
pickup. If you need a passport sooner, there are optional
services with additional fees to quicken the turn-around
time.
