Members of the L-A Corporate Partners’ Health Care
Action Team will be hosting a reception for all nursing students
in Lewiston-Auburn. This special event, which will be held
Monday, May 3, from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. at Androscoggin Homecare
and Hospice in Lewiston, will enable students who attend to
network with nurses, hear from recent graduates, explore job
opportunities, and meet with human resource representatives
from the major local health care providers. Pictured here
making plans for the event are seated left to right, Ann Weaver,
Vice-President for Human Resources at Androscoggin Home Care
and Hospice, Diane Dostie, Dean of Corporate and Community
Services at Central Maine Community College, and Sharon Kuhrt,
Director of the CMMC School of Nursing. Standing are Roger
Philippon, left, Assistant Dean of USM’s Lewiston-Auburn
College, and Nicole Morin-Scribner, Director of Employee Relations
for Sisters of Charity Health System. The Health Care Action
Team is comprised of local business and healthcare representatives
who have joined forces with USM and CMCC officials to address
the ever-increasing need for qualified health care professionals.
Ongoing efforts include an educational needs assessment survey,
an "Earn While You Learn" program for future nurses,
and a "Coaches for Nursing Students" program that
matches nursing students with area health care professionals.
