MSW Program To Be Discussed
September 2005
All interested students and community members are invited
to attend an information session on October 5 or 18 about
the Master in Social Work (MSW) program offered by the University
of Southern Maine.
Each session will include a discussion of the program focus,
the curriculum, the admission requirements & deadlines,
as well as a general discussion about career opportunities
for MSWs in Maine & the Northeast. The presenter will
be Dr. Vincent Faherty, Interim Director of the USM School
of Social Work.
The MSW program at USM prepares graduates for advanced-generalist,
community social work practice. Students are involved with
faculty in a learning and mentoring process designed to facilitate
personal and professional growth. Students are prepared for
practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations,
and communities. The program consists of 64 credits that can
be taken in a two-or four-year sequence. The part-time, four-year
sequence is offered late afternoons and evenings when possible.
The information sessions will be held Wednesday, October
5th, 11:30-1:00pm and Tuesday, October 18, 5:30-6:30pm. Both
will be held in Room 170 at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College
at 51 Westminster Street in Lewiston. Those unable to attend
who wish to be included on a mailing list are asked to send
their contact information to lacinfo@usm.maine.edu.
