Surveys have demonstrated strong community demand
for such a program
The University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn
College (LAC) is launching this fall its Master of Arts in
Leadership Studies (MLS). This innovative program will provide
opportunities for organizational and community leaders to
build a deep understanding of the dynamics of leadership,
how leadership interacts with other human dynamics, and the
role of the leader in society.
The mission of the program is to develop professionals who
- understand the nature of human relationships
- appreciate the impact individuals can have on society
- exercise effective, ethical leadership in organizations
and communities in the context of globalization
The first two courses in the program, which will be offered
this fall, are MLS 600, Foundations of Leadership Studies
I (Thursdays, 4:00 - 6:30P), and MLS 610, Methods of Inquiry
(Tuesdays, 7:00 - 9:30P).
The MLS coursework integrates scholarship with fieldwork
application to help students advance their skills in integrative
analytic thinking and to develop their understanding of communities
and organizations within a complex global society. Space remains
available in these two courses, and a limited number of students
not yet enrolled in the program will be allowed to enroll
for one or both of these classes. Please call 753-6500 for
advising and registration assistance.
