Special 9/11 Event at USM's Lewiston-Auburn
College
The public is invited to attend a special
event Sunday, September 11, at USM's Lewiston-Auburn College.
The International Students of Lewiston-Auburn
(ISOLA), a multicultural and international student group,
is hosting this event in collaboration with other student
and community-based organizations. Participants will explore
the effects of 9/11 on the U.S. and the global community.
Panel discussions will focus on such topics as the effects
of the terrorist attacks on American society, immigrant
experiences since 9/11, federal funding and the war on terror,
the allocation of federal and state resources, and coping
with the fear associated with that day.
This special "Renaissance" event
will be held from 12:00 - 4:30 p.m. at USM/L-A on 51 Westminster
Street in Lewiston. A light lunch and refreshments will
be served. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend. For
more information, please contact ISOLA at 753-6574 or isola@maine.edu.
The ISOLA mission is the promotion of diversity
in the United States. ISOLA sponsors academic studies, events,
and programs that bring together African-American, Asian-American,
Latin American, Native-American, and Euramerican experiences.
