Student teams in Professor Barry Rodrigue's Western Civilization
I class at USMs Lewiston-Auburn College recently created
six board games related to the history & geography of
Western Civilization. Pictured left to right are USM instructor
John Dennis and students Ed Baldridge, Erin Poindexter, and
Susan Beane. Among the games were Twisting Through History,
Ramparts Rules, and Barry's Magic Map Land.
In Twisting Through History students demonstrated
their gymnastic ability to straddle the Straits of Gibraltar
and touch Iran with their left elbow without falling into
the Black Sea! Another game featured the Hundred Years War
(1337-1453), where one's character could be killed, but would
continue the struggle for survival in this desperate time
as a child, wife, or cousin in the same family. The games
will be donated to a local day-care program.
