Amnesty International Chapter at L-A
College to Meet
September 2004
The chapter of Amnesty International at USM's
Lewiston-Auburn College will be holding its first meeting
of the new academic year
Wednesday, September 15, at 6:00pm. The chapter is open
to students, faculty, staff, and L-A area high school and
community members.
Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide
organization committed to the respect of internationally
recognized human rights, such as those enshrined in the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international
human rights standards. AI is independent of any government,
political ideology, economic interest or religion. It does
not support or oppose any government or political system,
nor
does it support or oppose the views of the victims whose
rights it seeks to protect.
The September 15 meeting will be held from
6:00-7:00pm in Room 170A at the College. All who are interested
are strongly encouraged to attend. For
