Laurie Cyr-Martel MA, MHRT IV, pictured at right, Crisis
Intervention Specialist for the Lewiston Police Department,
has authored a book for law enforcement professionals. Responding
to Emotionally Disturbed Persons - A Manual for Law Enforcement
was released in September by Staggs Publishing. Cyr-Martel
wrote this manual to provide information to the law enforcement
community about dealing with individuals in emotional distress.
The author, who earned a bachelor’s degree in social
and behavioral sciences from USM’s L-A College, is pictured
here with Dean Zark Van Zandt. She also holds a master’s
degree in counseling psychology from Antioch College in New
Hampshire. Cyr-Martel is currently assigned to the LPD through
the Maine Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services.
