The University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College will offer a virtual online open house on Thursday, August 28, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. During this time potential and current students may log on to the USM LAC web page and ask questions using an online chat feature.
USM LAC staff and faculty will be available to answer questions about both undergraduate and graduate programs, financial aid, transfer opportunities and certificate programs. “More and more students are asking about how to earn a bachelors degree because they want to explore opportunities available to them and increase their earning potential”, says USM LAC Director of Marketing & Information Dan Philbrick. “Sometimes just a couple of questions answered get the ball rolling for students to come in and they quickly find out they can complete their entire degree locally. Offering students the ability to chat online is just one more way we can show them what their options are”.
Regular office hours during that day will still be available and people may still call or stop by in person to chat with an advisor or faculty member. USM LAC now provides a one-stop service area where students can get advising help, register for classes, get financial aid and scholarship information and more. “Students can literally walk into one office area and get the majority of their needs met without having to run all over the place. It’s very student-centered.” says Philbrick.

This feature is available at other various times on a regular schedule but on August 28 USM LAC will have additional people available to answer questions.
