Art work by 47 adults and children, all students of local art teacher Mercedes Gastonguay, are featured in the current exhibition in the Atrium Art Gallery at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College. The exhibition of oils, drawings, pastels, and watercolors continues through August 15.
State Senator Peggy Rotundo gave an address to the over-300 guests attending the opening reception on Friday, July 18. Awards are given for outstanding work with best of show award presented to Marie Marquis.
In the 7-8 age category, first place went to Eisa Lee, second to T.J. Morin, third to Alexa Kesaris , and honorable mention to Dean Clavet.
For the 9 year olds, John Van Dyke received first place, second place went to Tawni Zamrock, third to Samuel Blaisdell, and honorable mention to Alyssa Desjardins.
In the age 10-11 category, first place went to Anya Lee, with Olivia Grimmer receiving second, Avery Gagnon for third place, and honorable mention awards to Kristen Cornelio and Bernadette Racine.
For ages 12-14, Katie Philbrick received first place, Alexandria Wilson, second place, Andrew Butler, third place, and honorable mention went to Ashley Beaucage.
Johnathan Warner received first place in the 15-18 year category. Second place went to Lizzie Aguilar, third to Kayla Larrivee, and honorable mention to Megan Beliveau.
Selia Dubois was the first place winner in the adult category with second going to Patricia Poulin, third place to Jette Rasmussen, and honorable mention awards to Lorraine Lamare and Colleen Rioux.
The USM LAC Atrium Art Gallery is open to the public free of charge. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College is located at 51 Westminster Street in Lewiston.
