Margaret Park

Margaret Park, an advisor at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College, was honored recently as one of the 2006 recipients of the College for ME –Androscoggin’s Student Advocate Award.

This award was presented at an annual awards luncheon in December at Bates College. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate tireless advocacy on behalf of students. Park has academically counseled hundreds of students as a student advisor at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College for the past ten years.

"Margaret is a tireless advocate for our students and is respected for this by our faculty", states Betty Robinson, associate professor of leadership and organizational studies, who nominated Park for the award.

College for Me-Androscoggin is a countywide collaborative effort in which USM/L-A is a core partner. It unites business, education, community and government partners who seek to ensure the quality of life in the community by raising educational attainment in Androscoggin County, and has set as its ambitious goal doubling the number of residents in this county who hold a college degree by 2015.
