The Osher Reentry Scholarship is designed to help current and new USM undergraduate students who have experienced a considerable gap (5 years or more) in the pursuit of their education and who can look forward to a significant number of years of workforce participation after completion of their baccalaureate degree. The result of a $50,000 grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation, scholarships of $2,000 will be awarded to 25 students.
In establishing the scholarships, the Osher Foundation seeks to help non-traditional students who may struggle to complete their education while faced with the demands of working and managing a family. With additional financial resources to offset the cost of a degree, the foundation believes these students will be better equipped to remain competitive in the workplace and advance in their desired careers.
The first Osher Reentry Scholarship will be awarded in January, 2007. To be considered for the award, a completed application must be submitted by 4:30pm on Wednesday, December 27 to Vice President of Enrollment Management Rosa Redonnett. Applications can be accessed at:
