October 2006
Citizens will have a chance to meet their legislative candidates October 26 when students at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College host a Meet the Candidates Forum. All candidates for the State Senate and House of Representatives whose districts, either wholly or partially, are in Androscoggin County have been invited to participate in this event.
The forum will be held Thursday, October 26, with a reception at 6:30 p.m., and the forum to follow at 7:00 p.m. Students participating in this event are currently taking a course in “The Media and Politics” offered through the leadership and organizational studies program at USM/L-A.
All candidates present will be invited to deliver a brief opening statement and address what they believe to be key issues the Legislature will be facing in the next session. After opening statements, the student moderator and a student panel will address some questions to the candidates. Questions from the audience will be taken if time permits.
The forum will provide legislative candidates an opportunity to discuss campaign issues with students at USM/L-A and members of the community. This is the eighth such event held at the campus and is open to the public. For more information, please call the College at 753-6500.
The forum will be held in Room 170 at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College, located at 51 Westminster Street in Lewiston.
