Have you wanted to go to college but didn’t think you could afford it? If so, you may want to explore applying for an Osher Scholarship, offered through the University of Maine System and available at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College.
The University of Maine System is offering Osher II Scholarships of up to $650 to encourage more Maine people of all ages to give college a try. If you have never completed a college course, an Osher Scholarship could provide you with an award of up to $650 to be applied toward the tuition and other costs for one developmental, 100 or 200 level course. The Osher II Scholarship cannot be combined with college tuition waivers or employer reimbursement.
You may qualify for an Osher II Scholarship if you:
- are a Maine resident,
- are a high school graduate or GED recipient,
- have never completed a college course,
- will commit to completing a college course.
Courses are available at USM/Lewiston-Auburn and other UMS campuses, at a University College Center; University College of Bangor; an Interactive Television (ITV) site or via the Internet.
A limited number of Osher II Scholarships for the fall are still available! Interested students must complete the Osher Scholarship II Request Form. The request form and further information is available at USM/L-A by calling 753-6500 and asking for Margaret Park.
