Interested in becoming an occupational
therapist? Have you not yet been to college, or maybe
just begun taking classes? If so, you may want to explore
the ‘Jump Start’ option to the master of
occupational therapy (MOT) Program at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn
College (USM/L-A).
This option enables qualified students
to complete their undergraduate and graduate education
in five years. Students matriculated in one of the USM/L-A’s
interdisciplinary undergraduate programs may be eligible
to apply to the entry-level (MOT) program prior to actually
earning their bachelor’s degree.
Students must complete all university
and major requirements for their undergraduate degree
and all prerequisites for the MOT Program. This comprises
approximately 90 credits that would be completed after
approximately three years of full-time study. (Students
may also choose a part-time option). Students must then
complete all of the admission requirements for the MOT
Program. Please refer to MOT application materials for
details.
If accepted into the MOT Program,
the first year MOT courses will be applied as general
electives toward completion of the baccalaureate degree
requirements. Students then continue in the MOT Program
and receive their master of occupational therapy degree
upon completion of all academic and fieldwork requirements.
If you are interested in pursuing
this option, please call (207) 753-6500 to set up an
appointment with a Student Services Advisor at USM/L-A.
You may also visit the website at www.usm.maine.edu/lac/ot.
Applications for fall admission to
the MOT Program from students who have already earned
their bachelor’s degrees are being accepted. Please
check the website for more information and for a downloadable
application form. If you have any questions about the
program, please call Luisa at 753-6523 or email at lscott@usm.maine.edu.
** An information session and open
house for the MOT program will be held at USM/L-A Tuesday,
February 28, 2006 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. |
