The Society of Franco-America (SFA) at Lewiston-Auburn College/University
of Southern Maine is committed to the preservation, celebration,
and development of the rich heritage of French North America.
We will reach out to both French-speaking and non-French
speaking people who are interested in the French presence
and influence in North America through education and community
involvement. We will also promote the use of the extensive
collections held by the Franco-American
Heritage Collection at Lewiston-Auburn
College/University of Southern Maine and support efforts
to increase its resources and materials. Furthermore, since
French North America is a vibrant contemporary phenomenon,
we seek to build bridges between its exciting, culturally
diverse societies - from the muddy banks of the Saskatchewan
to the golden beaches of Haiti, from the brick-lined streets
of New England industrial cities to the stucco leisure communities
of Mexico, from the high tech centers of Silicon Valley in
California to the jazz and Zydeco salons in Louisiana.
Our Motto is: Remember Yesterday, Celebrate
Today, Envision Tomorrow!
