Americans Who Tell the Truth Talk
Ten portraits by artist Robert Shetterly will be on view in the Hall Gallery at USM's Lewiston-Auburn College until March 23. The paintings are from the extensive collection "Americans Who Tell the Truth," a series of portraits which Shetterly describes as "models of courageous citizenship." Shetterly will be giving a talk from 1:30-2:30, Thursday, March 14, free and open to the public, which will begin in the Hall Gallery then move to Room 170 for more discussion.
His talk is in conjunction with a professional development workshop offered free to middle and high school teachers, from 3:30-7 p.m. on the same day.
The collection of portraits, now totaling over 180, continues to travel around the country to museums, community centers, churches, colleges, and schools. Shetterly includes historical figures as well as contemporary Americans, those whose words and actions are familiar, and those who have those who have worked in obscurity.
More information on the portrait series is available online at www.americanswhotellthetruth.org.
