LIFE INSURANCE
Basic Life Insurance - Group term life insurance equal to the
employee's salary rounded to the next higher $1,000 is provided
for all full-time regular employees, part-time regular employees
working at least three-quarters time, and part-time regular
employees working at least half-time who have at least two
continuous years of University service. Participation in the
program is mandatory for full-time employees and optional for
part-time employees. The University pays the full cost of the
premium. At the end of the fiscal or academic year in which the
employee turns 65, this insurance is reduced to 65% of the former
level of coverage.
Supplemental Term Life Insurance - Coverage under the
Supplemental Term Life Insurance plan is available to full-time
regular employees. The amount of coverage is determined by the
number of dependents of an employee; the premium, paid by the
employee is determined by the employee's age. Changes in
dependency status or age group automatically result in changes in
the amount of insurance and premium. The amount of insurance is as
follows:
o For employees with two or more dependents - twice annual
salary
o For employees with one dependent - one and one-half times
annual salary
o For employees with no dependents - one-half annual salary
Participation in the plan is optional.
