What is a Nurse
Practitioner?
A
nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has advanced
education (Masters Degree or Doctorate) & clinical training. NPs are
nationally certified in their specialty area. At UHS
we are Family and Adult NPs.
What services
do NPs provide?
Perform health histories
and physical examinations.
Diagnose and treat acute
health problems.
Diagnose, treat, and monitor
chronic diseases.
Order, perform, and interpret
diagnostic tests.
Prescribe medications.
Provide family planning
services.
Provide health education.
Collaborate with other health
care professionals as needed.
