Psychiatric Services

Health Services offers more than standard healthcare! Among our staff is a part-time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who can diagnose and treat mental health diagnoses. Students interested in Psychological Evaluation or will be seeking Psychiatric Medication Management services upon arrival to campus, should meet with a UHS Nurse Practitioner or UCS psychotherapist to obtain a referral. Students without a referral will be scheduled to see one of the Nurse Practitioners or referred to Counseling Services. Telehealth options are also available!

Immunization Compliance Requirement

The Maine Post-Secondary School Immunization Law (22 MRSA §6359) requires that students who attend school full time submit documentation of the following immunizations:

•             2 doses of Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine given on or after first birthday. (Proof of immunity to all three diseases is also acceptable.)

•             1 dose of Tetanus/Diphtheria (Td) or Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Tdap) given within the last 10 years.

Medical Records

Before moving to campus, students should consider gathering their medical records from their provider(s) and submit them to University Health Services (UHS). This is to ensure a smooth coordination of care while attending the University should a student need to access UHS. Students can also use our online Medical Records service to communicate with their UHS provider directly, fill out required forms, upload insurance cards, and access portions of their medical records.

Athletic PPE Requirements

Current and prospective athletes are required to complete yearly paperwork, upload valid insurance information, and provide additional documentation prior to their participation in athletics at the University of Southern Maine. Prospective athletes will need to be tested for sickle cell anemia prior to their athletic physical or upload results before attending their physical. Click below for further instructions.
