Tuesdays - Sarah has office hours in Gorham!*  Visit her between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (with frequent later hours and events on a regular basis) in the Husky Hut, Brooks Student Center Lower Level, Gorham Campus.

Tuesday, October 27 - Safe Zone Project Session for SMCC Residence Hall Students, evening - time tba, SurfSite Hall, South Portland.  This session is intended for SMCC residence hall students and their guests, for more information contact Sarah or the RA staff in SurfSiteHall.

Wednesday, October 28 - Safe Zone Project Session at LAC, 4:00-5:30pm, Room 107 Lewiston Auburn College.  This session is open to any USM student, staff or faculty member.  Community members may attend if space is available.  Please RSVP via email to sparker-holmes@usm.maine.edu or by phone at 780-5767.  If fewer than 5 people sign up, the session may be canceled or postponed.

Thursday, October 29 - Leslea Newman: Reception, Author Appearance and Book Signing, 6:00 pm, Wishcamper Center, Portland Campus.   Leslea Newman will be reading from her forthcoming novel, "The Reluctant Daughter," which depicts the struggles of Lydia Pinkowitz to communicate the realities of her life as a lesbian, as a feminist scholar, and as the woman she has become to her mother Doris.  We will also celebrate the upcoming 20th anniversary of the publication of Newman's "Heather Has Two Mommies."   Co-sponsored by the University of Southern Maine Bookstores.

Monday, November 2 - Protect Maine Equality Rally, Noon, Monument Square, Portland (rain location is the USM Sullivan Gym).  Be a part of making history and join us in our stand for marriage equality for EVERYONE! This is our last chance before election day to show our strength as a community! In order to win on Nov 3, we MUST get out the vote! Please take an hour for lunch and join us. Invite everyone you know! Let's get 1,000+ people in Monument Square to protect equality for ALL Mainers. Jesse Connolly & Darlene Huntress from the No on 1 campaign, along with several other guests will be speaking and adding their voices to yours in this important fight for marriage equality! Friday, November 20 - 10th Annual USM Royal Majesty Drag Competition and Show, Doors open at 7:00pm, Show begins at 7:30pm, Holiday Inn by the Bay, Spring Street, Portland.  This event gets bigger and better every year as student competitors vie for the crowns and local favorite Drag Kings and Queens show the audience how amazing performance can be!  Tickets available at the door the  night of the show only - $5 with student id, $10 for all others.  Special guest performers include:  The Touring Ensemble of the Maine Gay Men's Chorus, Mimi Imfurst, The Kings of the Hill, Jelvis, the 2009 Royal Majesty Winners and more!  Sign up to compete!  Fill out this form by November 13th!

Wednesday, December 2 - The Forum shows "For the Bible Tells Me So," 10:00am, Multicultural Center, Woodbury Campus Center, Portland Campus.  The Forum is a weekly venue where students can discuss issues of race, ethnicity and power.  After each film a discussion will follow facilitated by USM Clinical counselor JE Boone.  Light refreshments provided.  "For the Bible Tells Me So" is a powerful, thought provoking meditation on what it means to be gay and Christian.
