USM-GIS Projects

USM-GIS is currently leading or providing substantial support to a variety of research endeavors. The major current projects are listed below.

  1. Hyperspectral Remote Sensing of Wetlands Vegetation at the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve
  2. Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site and Field School

The lab also supports a variety of research projects within the University via equipment loans, training, cartographic assistance, and technical support. A sampling of those projects is listed below.

  1. Mapping Bedrock in Central Maine (Department of Geosciences)
  2. Using GPS to map alewife habitat (Aquatic Systems Group)
  3. Pondicherry Park Survey (Department of Environmental Science)
  4. Analysis of Electronic Waste Collection (Department of Environmental Science)

In addition to the projects mentioned above, the lab also supports student-initiated GIS, GPS, and Remote Sensing projects.
