USM-GIS Highlight

Abraham Dailey awarded a Maine Space Grant Fellowship

Abraham Dailey (Economics) is one example of a USM student who is taking full advantage of the opportunities that USM offers to help develop his GIS and Remote Sensing skills. Abe was recently awarded a grant through the Maine Space Grant Consortium.

Abe will be spending 10 weeks at NASA's Stennis Space Center, located in southern Mississippi. While there, he will be assisting researchers who are investigating the use of MODIS time-series products to map persistent flooding in coastal wetlands, and higher resolution multispectral data to infer salinity.

Abe has taken multiple GIS courses here at USM, including Introduction to ArcGIS, GIS I, GIS II, and Remote Sensing.

USM Students have a strong history of success in applying for and receiving Maine Space Grants. Interested students should contact the USM Maine Space Grant Consortium Representative, Irwin Novak, for more information.

Join us as we congratulate Abe on this success!
