I received my Ph.D. at the University of California in Santa Barbara. I am a cultural anthropologist, having come to USM in 1972 from the Amazon rainforest where I study the changing lifeways of indigenous peoples. I offer courses on Amazonian and other native peoples, an introduction to cultural anthropology, the History of Anthropological Thought, and the Anthropology of Sex and Gender. I'm currently serving half-time as Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education, and can most easily be reached at (207) 228-8398 in 233 Luther Bonney, Portland Campus.
