Meeting Schedule

The GASA group meets every Thursday at 12:15 a.m. in Bailey 300 (Gorham Campus) this semester.

Fund Raisers

We're trying to raise money to help us attend the annual meetings and conferences. We need your help.

The department also has a bottle box for anyone to drop off bottles during classes located in the department office. If you wish to return the bottles yourself, please drop them off at Ron & Jan's Redemption Center on Rt. 35 in Standish between the intersections of Rts. 25 and 114. The GASA has an account there, so all you need to do is tell them the bottles are for USM's Geo-Anthro Student Association, and they will give 6 cents instead of 5 and 18 cents instead of 15 for wine and liquor bottles. They will record the amount on our card.

Society for American Archaeology

The SAA is an international organization dedicated to the research, interpretation, and protection of the archaeological heritage of the Americas. With more than 6,600 members, the society represents professional, student, and avocational archaeologists working in a variety of settings including government agencies, colleges and universities, museums, and the private sector. Since its inception in 1934, SAA has endeavored to stimulate interest and research in American archaeology; advocated and aid in the conservation of archaeological resources; encourage public access to and appreciation of archaeology; oppose all looting of sites and the purchase and sale of looted archaeological materials; and serve as a bond among those interested in the archaeology of the Americas.

Every year, the SAA holds a conference in a new location. You can find more info on the upcoming conferences on their website: www.saa.org
