Welcome

You have reached the New England Paleo-Page. This site is a compilation of information which we have collected pertaining to the Paleo-Indian occupation of New England (from around 13,000-9,000 years ago). We are concerned primarily with the types of data available for learning about these peoples, and the techniques of data collection.

This site is broken down into eight parts: home page, methods, ecology, subsistence, technology/trade, conclusions, glossary, bibliography, and feedback page. The methods section deals with the basics of archaeology relative to the Paleolithic. If you have no background in archaeology we hope this will provide a nice primer to help understand how we know what we know about Paleo-Indians. To further aid those without formal training in this field of study, we have defined some terms important terms (not limited to those appearing in this website).

The Life ways section is fairly straight forward in that it documents information gathered on Paleo-Indians relative to subsistence, technology, trade, and ecology. This section is the heart of the site.

The final portion of the site contains our conclusions, a section for your comments (we want to know what you liked/disliked about the site), a bibliography, and some links to point you in the direction of more information.
