Upcoming Activities

 * October is Archaeology Awareness Month in the state of Maine. Numerous events around the state will be going on. We are going to see which events are most popular among the GASA and see about setting up a car pool to those events.

 * On Wednesday, November 17, 2004, the Geography-Anthropology is going to hold a lunch session from 11 am to whenever. There will be pizzas for everyone, courtesy of the department. We're hoping our new faculty members Kreg Ettenger and Firooza Pavri will be able to talk to us about their fields of interest. We're also going to have discussions about geography and anthropology in general, what they are, what people do, etc. Anyone with any questions or just interested in finding out more about our department and our two fields is invited to attend. And don't forget the free food!

 * This year, the GASA is planning on attending several Geography and Anthropology conferences. Fundraising for these events will need to be done. Sign-up sheets for all the conferences will be posted in the Geo-Anthro office.

 * The SAA (Society for American Archaeology) is holding its annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah from March 30 to April 3, 2005.

 * NESTVAL (New England & St. Lawrence Valley Associtation) of the Association of American Geographers will be be holding their annual meeting on October 15-17, 2004 in Portland, Maine. It is being co-hosted this year by the University of Maine, Farmington and USM.
