Students engage in hands-on, experiential learning
Geo-Anthro Students on Island

The Department of Geography-Anthropology is an interdisciplinary department that emphasizes the integration of the two disciplines through our common interests in the relationship between human populations and their environments, both natural and built. The major is a 44-50 hour interdisciplinary program wherein students are expected to take courses in both geography and anthropology.

Nathan Hamilton, Associate Professor of Archaeology, has received a sabbatical for fall 2013. Dr. Hamilton has engaged in the long-term research and examination of maritime communities and coastal environments along the Atlantic coastline. For his sabbatical, he will continue his archaeological research of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century fishing stations on the Isles of Shoals.

Undergraduate students in Geography-Anthropology, Kari Beaulieu and Pauline LaBelle Morgan, received NASA fellowships for 2012-13. They will work with Firooza Pavri and use space-based satellite imagery to document land use and environmental changes at sites in North America and India.
