Call and Thoreau: Spirit of an Age

Call and Thoreau: Spirit of an Age

November 5 - December 12, 2009

Historic images by photographer Bert L. Call (1866-1965) document specific sites described by Henry David Thoreau in his book The Maine Woods.

Call's photos, portraying how the Northern Woods of Maine looked only thirty-five years after Thoreau visited, may help people better understand the rapid changes happening there today.

Curated by Frank Spizuoco and on loan from Dexter Historical Society.
