For the past 30 years, the Harrisons, the internationally renown artist team, have created memorable visual and poetic metaphors advocating the restoration of bio-diversity through collaborative efforts among disciplines. Their major exhibition, Peninsula Europe: The High Ground, is currently touring through 6 European countries.

Gallery talks and opening reception
Thursday, Oct 25, 5-7 p.m.

Ecological and aesthetic explorations of local waters by teams of artists and scientists in various media. Collaborations include an introductory installation by ecoartist Aviva Rahmani and geologist Irwin Novak contextualizing Casco Bay in relation to the world; botanical data collection, computer imaging, and photography of the Back Cove environs by new media artist Jan Piribec, photographer Gary Green, and biologist Chris Hoffmann; a sculptural interpretation of the Presumpscot river by sculptor Michael Shaughnessy and ecologist Rob Sanford, and a participatory mapping area of Casco Bay Watershed by curator Carolyn Eyler and Portland Water District ecological educator Roberta Hill.

Directions to Gorham Art Gallery
From the north:
Take the Maine Turnpike to Exit 8. Follow Route 25 west to Gorham. At Gorham Center, turn right onto Route 114. Take the first left onto College Avenue.
From the south: Take the Maine Turnpike to Exit 6

6 and turn left after the toll booth. At the second traffic light, turn left onto Route 114 north. Follow Route 114 to the village of Gorham. Turn left after the first traffic light onto College Avenue.

The Art Gallery is located on the corner of College Avenue and the main entrance to the campus. Take the first right off the main entrance road to the metered parking lot.

Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Directions to Portland Area Gallery
From Interstate 295 take exit 6B (Forest Avenue north) onto Forest Avenue. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Bedford Street. The Area Gallery is

located in the amphitheater in the Woodbury Campus Center, which is on your right.
All events are free and open to the public. Tours are available for groups of any age. Both galleries are closed on University holidays. Gorham Art Gallery is open by appointment only during school breaks. Area Gallery is open 8:30-4:30 during school breaks.
