Stafford Loan Entrance Interview

Welcome to the University of Southern Maine Student Loan Entrance Counseling page.

All first time borrowers must complete an Entrance Interview to make sure they know their  Rights and Responsibilities as a borrower.  

 Loan funds cannot be credited to your student account until you complete the Entrance Interview requirement.

 We also recommend visiting the Financial Aid Calculator web site to help you determine your future payments based on your Stafford Loan balance.

THREE WAYS TO COMPLY - Use any one of these methods to complete the Stafford Loan Entrance Interview...

Online

You may complete your entrance counseling requirements online. If you have any questions as you complete the entrance counseling requirements you may contact the Financial Aid Office, or use the "E-mail a Question" button on the counseling pages.

Confirmation of your successful completion will be sent to the USM Financial Aid Office automatically.

Via Phone 

Call 780-5800, select option 1 (for Financial Aid information) and option 5 
Follow the directions and complete your Entrance Interview by Phone. 

Confirmation of your successful completion will be sent to the USM 
Financial Aid Office automatically. 


In Person 

Come to the Financial Aid Office and complete the paperwork in person.
