Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
The most widely used
personality inventory in the world, the
Myers-Briggs Type IndicatorŪ was developed by Isabel Briggs
Myers and her mother, Katharine Cook Briggs, to make C.G. Jung's theory
of psychological type practical and useful in people's lives
The MBTIŪ instrument provides
an accurate picture of a person’s personality type by determining
preferences in four categories; the combination of these preferences
will identify one of 16 distinct personality types. Understanding the
characteristics unique to each personality type provides insight on
individuals' ways of communicating and interacting with others. This
information can then be used to identify the types of careers that may
be supportive to each personality type.

Strong Interest Inventory
The
Strong Interest Inventory
is based on the idea that individuals are more satisfied and
productive when they work in jobs or at tasks that they find interesting
and when they work with people whose interests are similar to their own.
Your interests are compared
to thousands of individuals who report being happy and successful in
their jobs. Your personalized report identifies your optimum career
choices based on your interests and includes additional related
occupations with concise job descriptions.

Interfaith Chaplain
USM’s commitment to student
learning outcomes includes support for spiritual and religious life and
the development of beliefs, values, and ethics. Learning in this
dimension includes:
-
Ability to be clear about
one’s own beliefs, values, ethics
-
Ability to connect one’s
beliefs and values with one’s choices and behaviors
-
Ability to relate with
understanding and respect to others whose beliefs and values may
differ from one’s own
The office of the Interfaith
Chaplain supports these goals through opportunities for learning,
dialogue, and celebration around religious and seasonal observances,
support for student-initiated spiritual and religious groups and
activities, an interfaith team of Associate Chaplains from diverse
religious and spiritual traditions, and individual spiritual support and
direction.
All programs and activities
welcome participation from any and all members of the USM community and
the wider Southern Maine community, celebrating our diversity and
building community through interfaith understanding and dialogue.
