Disability
If you need course adaptations or
accommodations because of a disability please contact the Office of Academic
Support for Students with Disabilities, 237 Luther Bonney Hall, 780-4706.
Academic Integrity
Plagiarism is the inclusion of someone else’s
words, ideas or data as one’s own work.
When a student submits work for credit that includes the words, ideas or
data of others, the source of that information must be acknowledged through
complete, accurate, and specific references, and, if verbatim statements are
included, through quotation marks as well.
By placing his/her name on work submitted for credit, the student
certifies the originality of all work not otherwise identified by appropriate
acknowledgements. Penalties for
plagiarism can include a grade of F for the plagiarized paper, a grade of F
four the course, or, for multiple violations, dismissal or suspension from the
university.
Tutoring
Students seeking writing assistance are
encouraged to make appointments with the USM writing tutors, available in the
USM Learning Centers. Appointments may be made either by stopping at the main
desk or by phone:
Appointments are confidential, although the
tutor will send a session summary note to the instructor upon student
request. Writing tutors will help
students at any point during the writing process but will not assist with
proofreading without providing appropriate
instruction.
Project 100
This class is part of Project 100, an
initiative that helps USM faculty communicate with students and their
advisors. If you are having difficulty
in this class, you instructor will notify both you and your advisor early in
the semester, so that you will have an opportunity to improve.
