Barbara C. Jandebeur Memorial Scholarship
The Barbara C. Jandebeur Memorial Scholarship is a
small scholarship administered by the English department.
This scholarship was established by Barry S. Jandebeur
in memory of his mother, who died on December 23, 1995, which is the date Mr.
Jandebeur received his B.A. in English from USM. The amount of the scholarship
varies with each academic year. Awards will be applied to a student’s account.
The following are the initial criteria of eligibility
for the Barbara C. Jandebeur Memorial Scholarship:
Ø English major
Ø junior or senior status*
Ø minimum 3.25 GPA
Ø you intend to pursue a career in English
*Please
note: Students applying to graduate before the fall semester of the academic
year will not be eligible for monetary awards.
Eligible candidates are invited to remain in the pool
confirming eligibility by e-mailing Rosanna McCoy, Administrative Assistant II,
at rmccoy@usm.maine.edu. The e-mail must
confirm the following information:
1) you will be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at USM
in the upcoming Fall semester
and

after eligible students have been contacted – usually the last week in
February.
The responses from the eligible candidates will be
collected and given to the Student Affairs committee for evaluation. The award
recipient will be selected by a committee of full-time faculty who will read
and evaluate the applications using a ballot system.
