USM: Hazardous Waste

Each department throughout the University of Southern Maine is responsible for the correct handling, temporary lab storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. The transporting of the waste from the University to a licensed facility is only one part of the Hazardous Waste Program. The storing of this waste and transfer to a licensed facility will be administered by the Office of Campus Environmental Safety & Health.

Satellite sites :

Any spillage of a hazardous waste substance should immediately be cleaned up using procedures specified in that lab's Lab Safety Manual. Report the incident to the USM Office of Campus Environmental Safety & Health immediately.

The Office of Campus Environmental Safety & Health will document the occurrence accordingly using the SPCC incident reporting form.
