USM's two main campuses (Portland and Gorham) are located in and around the beautiful and historic seaside city of Portland (greater city population 230,000), the cultural and economic center of Maine located on scenic Casco Bay. Both Portland and Gorham offer very safe, comfortable environments for residential students. Boston, Massachusetts, is only 160 km away and is easily accessible by bus (and soon by train). The State of Maine, known as "Vacationland," has four distinct seasons, and offers a wide variety of sporting and leisure activities. It is known to be one of the safest states in the USA. |
