Elizabeth Higgins has been working in the field of advising for 17 years with prior experience in summer session, financial aid and student development. Currently she is the Executive Director for Student Success at the University of Southern Maine. In this role she involved with retention and persistence initiatives as well as having managerial oversight for the Student Success Centers, Office for Support for Students with Disabilities, Learning Assistance and Prior Learning and Assessment. Other areas of responsibility include NEASC accreditation, teaching an Introduction to Student Affairs graduate course, enrollment management and strategic planning activities. Higgins is also a Reiki Master, Global Career Development Facilitator and holds a certificate in MBTI Step I and II.
Beth has been active in NACADA at the regional and national levels. In addition to being a current board member and faculty at the Assessment Institute Beth has facilitated presentations and has been conference co-chair, evaluation chair, volunteer chair, Maine state coordinator and an investigator for a student persistence and success grant. She has contributed to the NACADA Clearinghouse of Academic Advising Resources, chair of the Commission for Undecided and Exploratory Students and has been a member of the Commission and Interest Group Steering Committee.
