What’s new?
Adobe Connect provides the same basic functionality as Blackboard Collaborate and adds extras. There is an excellent mobile app for no additional charge. Video is often improved quality, and login is much simpler. You just log in to meet.maine.edu with your MaineStreet credentials and you are ready to create a meeting with your own preference of url. The University of Maine System has implemented the Blackboard building block, which makes it easy to create and join sessions through the Blackboard interface.

Troubleshooting Adobe Connect:
Adobe Connect and Chrome browser incompatibility work-around
USM will no longer be using Blackboard Collaborate as its web-conferencing latform effective Dec 31, 2012. The University will be moving to Adobe Connect which will be run by the UMaine System and is already used on other system campuses. All current Collaborate users will be migrated to Connect before this date.
As a result of this change in service, there will be two different levels of hosting accounts available through UMS:
1. Level 1 – Classroom instruction: request this license for your teaching. Up to 100 simultaneous users.
Cost: $150/year

2. Level 2 – Meetings and tutoring sessions: request this license if you need a virtual meeting space for small meetings (research meetings, tutoring etc.). This license normally limits 10 or fewer attendees per session.
Cost: $50/year charged to your academic department
