USM Hosting First Annual State Of IT in Maine Conference
Three prominent Maine information technology and cyber security experts will be featured as keynote speakers for the first annual State of IT in Maine Conference. The all-day conference, to be held on Friday, November 9, 2012, focuses on topics in cyber-security and disruptive technologies that are occurring in Maine and beyond. Keynote speakers include:
- George Hogan, Chief Information Officer, Wright Express
Topic: How Emerging Technologies are changing the role of IT in a global economy - Richard Thompson, Chief Information Officer, University of Maine System
Topic: The Power of the Network: Broadband capacity that makes a difference - Jim Smith, Chief Information Officer, State of Maine
Topic: Topics in IT Leadership
Representatives from business, industry, education, government, and research are invited to participate. Attendees will have opportunities to network with other professionals, get answers from practitioners state-wide, and become educated on emerging technologies and pending legislation. This year’s State of IT in Maine Conference will also be the kick-off event for the Maine Cyber Security Cluster, recently established at USM to serve as the hub for cyber-security related education and workforce development resources in Maine.
The 2012 State of IT in Maine Conference will be held at USM’s Abromson Center on the Portland campus on Friday, November 9th, 2012, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Admission is $80 for the general public, $50 for USM faculty and staff, and $25 for students. Registration is required and includes breakfast and lunch.
