Biology Students Present at NURDS
Two undergraduate Biology students, Hassan Shaleh (on the right) and Robert Harper (left), presented their research poster at the Northeast Undergraduate Research & Discovery
Symposium 2012 held at University of New England in Biddeford, ME, on Mar 11, 2012. They have been working in Dr. Lisa Moore's lab generating cultures of the marine cyanobacterium, Prochlorococcus, that are free of contaminating bacteria (i.e. axenic). They were successful this semester in generating 2 axenic strains that can be used for further studies of nutrient physiology of this ecologically significant phototroph.
