If you are a USM student or alumni, you can now take the Strong online! You will receive your results during an appointment. You must meet with a counselor to get them.

1. Go to https://online.cpp.com. Login is usm and password is career. There is NO user ID required.

2. Stop by 7 College Ave.,  Gorham or 100 Payson Smith, Portland or call us at 780-5330 to set up a time to go over your results with Mariah at 7 College Ave., Gorham or call 780-4220 to set up a time to see Mike in Portland

3. You will need to pay **  before receiving your results

The Strong Interest Inventory is based on the idea that individuals are more satisfied and productive when they work in jobs or at tasks that they find interesting and when they work with people whose interests are similar to their own.

This computer-based assessment takes about 25 minutes to complete and contains 317 items that measure your interests in a wide range of occupations, occupational activities, hobbies, leisure activities and types of people. 

Your interests are compared to thousands of individuals who report being happy and successful in their jobs.  Your personalized report identifies your optimum career choices based on your interests and includes additional related occupations with concise job descriptions.

Why use the Strong Interest Inventory?

It has solid statistical reliability and validity

It employs a very large sample size of individuals who report their career experiences

Its sample base represents a wide range of educational, ethnic, and socioeconomic levels

The Strong Interest Inventory is offered to USM students and alumni through Career Services by request.  The computer-based assessment costs $15.00** for students and $30.00** for alumni and takes approximately 35 minutes to complete.  After completing the assessment, you will make an appointment which will guide you through interpreting your results and suggest possible next steps.  Stop by our offices or call  780-5330 (Gorham) to make an appointment with Mariah
