OCCUPATIONAL POSSIBILITIES

EDITOR

Editors are responsible for reviewing all written work submitted by the writers working under them. Editors must correct and finalize any written work before publishing. Editors work with everything from short stories and novels to newspaper and magazine stories and columns. There are editors for every type of written material.

Educational Requirements

A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement, but a higher degree or previous experience is a plus. Most organizations choose to hire people with degrees in journalism, English, or Communication.

WRITER

Creates original written works for publication or perfomance. May write as private authour or for clients such as publishers, motion picture studios, television networks, radio stations, magazines and trade journals, newspapers, and advertisements.

Educational Requirements

Reporter
Prepare visual stories, do live reporting, flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications: Excellent writing skills, one year of broadcast experience including live reporting, team player

Creative Services Producer-
This person will produce television commercials, promos and public service announcements.
Qualifications: Must be extremely creative, organized, and have the ability to handle several projects at once. Writing experience required, nonlinear editing experience an plus. Competitive pay and excellent benefits.

Producer
Will produce at least one news broadcast per day, which includes selection of stories, format, graphics, writing, editing, and coordination of efforts between two television stations.
Qualifications: Strong writer, potential news room leader, capable of keeping a cool head under pressure and able to make a decision.
