Demystifying the NIH
What is NIH looking for in a proposal? What types of grant mechanisms are used at NIH? What will the peer review process entail? How does NIH decide what to fund? How do you develop strategy for planning your NIH grant?

PM Session: 2pm - 4pm
Getting Started - Grants for New Investigators
1) Turning that great idea into a fundable project;
2) What a reviewer looks for in a proposal;
3) Tips to keep in mind when beginning to focus on grant proposals; &
4) a list of grants available to new investigators.

Both above presentations will be given by Linda Anthony from the American Association of State Colleges & Universities in Washington, DC.

Preparing Budgets, Part 2

Presentation by Larry Waxler, Director, Office of Sponsored Programs. This presentation is a continuation of the workshop last year entitled, Preparing a Budget, Making it all add up to which Larry covered some of the basic theory and guidelines associated with budge preparation. In this workshop he will actually go through the process of putting a budget together. If you have a budget that you would like developed, contact Larry in advance and he will choose one of the workshop presentation.

Project Management: How to Handle the Grant Award

So you got an award-now what? In this workshop Larry will cover some of the basic issues that you will face: financial and programmatic reporting, subcontracting, project modifications, close-out, etc.
