Program Evaluation

On-going evaluation is beneficial to you as an educator and is a requirement for peer review and program review. The following policies and practices are part of the College's evaluation process.

Student Role

Instructor, course, and clinical sites are evaluated separately. Instructor evaluations are available only to the individual, the Peer Review Committee, Chairperson/Directors, and the Dean. Course evaluations and clinical site evaluations are public information, accessible to all faculty for Chairperson/Director course and program review and planning.

Course Evaluation

Near the end of the course, students will evaluate the course using the College's approved form and a course evaluation comment sheet. A student volunteer collects the evaluations in the properly notated envelope and returns them to designated administrative offices. NOTE: The scanning equipment will not accept forms that are bent, stapled, or written on with ink.

Instructor Evaluation

Near the end of the course or clinical rotation students will evaluate the course instructor using the College's approved form and an instructor evaluation comment sheet. A student volunteer collects the evaluations in the properly notated envelope and returns them to designated administrative offices. NOTE: The scanning equipment will not accept forms that are bent, stapled, or written on with ink.

Clinical Site Evaluations

At the end of each clinical rotation faculty may choose to have students evaluate the site individually or as a group. In either case, the faculty person is responsible for synthesizing and summarizing the students' feedback.

Faculty Role

Course Evaluations

  1. 1. Faculty members are given packets of evaluation forms for each course they teach. Faculty members are responsible for making sure evaluation forms and CLEAR DIRECTIONS are given and for providing time for students to complete evaluations. Faculty members are expected to read the instructions and to explain and encourage evaluation as a means of accountable feedback. The scanning equipment does not accept forms with ink, tears, folds, or staples.
  2. Only after grades have been submitted will faculty members be given scanned results for review.
  3. •Course evaluations are kept on file in the College administrative offices to be used in program evaluation.

Faculty

  1. Faculty members may have access to their personal evaluations only after course grades have been submitted.
  2. Faculty members are responsible for collating and summarizing evaluation data for peer review purposes
  3. Per AFUM agreement, faculty have the right to not include unsigned student comments in their peer review file. For each course evaluated, faculty will receive the College's form asking whether or not they want the unsigned comments included. These forms should be returned within 10 working days. All signed student comments are included in the Peer Review file.
